Karuma Bridge Accident Victim Admitted At Lacor Hospital In Critical Condition


Side sources say driver jumped from before breaking his leg

The driver of a Fuso Lorry registration number UAS 994Y which was carrying logs before plunging into River Nile, Karuma Bridge has been admitted under critical condition at St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu district.

Police identifies the driver as Solomon Ocen, 25, and a resident of Awelo, Abila-Akalu in Kole district.

Aswa region police spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema says Ocen was driving a Fuso Lorry carrying logs from Gulu town to Kampala.

Okema added that Ocen got multiple injuries on his body and broke his leg.

“He’s currently under the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Mary’s Lacor Hospital,” Okema added.

The Tuesday night accident is the sixth to have happened on Gulu-Kampala highway in less than three weeks.

Twenty three people have so far lost their lives on Gulu-Kampala highway accidents while sixteen others are fighting for their lives.
