Police recovers stolen vehicle, suspects held

Two suspects are in Police custody for stealing a silver gray colored vehicle with registration number UAP 286J belonging to Lira Municipal Council Speaker, Ogwal Geoffrey Bosco.

The recovered vehicle was stolen on Sunday after the owner had parked it inside Lira Mayors’ garden. The renowned politician was among those enjoying good moment as trade show was closing.

Okello Charles, 28 years old and Atim Dora, 23, all residents of Ireda Chambers, Central division in Lira municipality were arrested on Monday evening.

According to police, the suspects drove the vehicle up to Palisa district from where they were arrested.

“The vehicle was exhibited and parked at Lira Central Police Station alongside other things like a hammer, a pair of pliers, ring spanner, two (2) ignition keys, four (4) improvised screw drivers and twelve (12) improvised master keys,” David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga regional  Police Spokesperson told TND News on Tuesday.

The duo has since been charged with stealing vehicle vibe CRB: 1843/2018, police mouthpiece say.

“Their case files are being prepared and soon they will be arraigned before Courts of law upon completion of investigations,” Mudong added.
