‘Lira tycoon and politician’ is now in China.
The former State Minister for Housing, Sam Engola has been elected unopposed as the chairperson skills development of leaders and government officials in fighting poverty [SDLGOFP], TND News has learnt.
This took place in Beijing, China where the former Erute South MP and his delegation from Uganda are attending meetings.
African countries who elected Engola, also the NRM Vice chairperson for Northern Uganda are; Lesotho, Zambia, Uganda, Malawi and Eritrea, among others.
While addressing participants at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Engola assured leaders of Uganda’s commitment to work collaboratively in fighting poverty not only in Uganda but Africa as a continent.
“Productively, let’s utilize the existing network to promote agribusiness in Africa so that our countries can benefit more from the agriculture value chain to enhance our investments in agriculture through value addition,” Mr Engola, also a renowned farmer, said.
According to Engola, “very many farmers in Uganda including him” who embraced agriculture are attaining better livelihood because of the new methods of farming which has enabled farmers to get better yields.
He thanked government of China for always putting Uganda at heart when it comes to issues that service the need of locals.
Last week, Engola led a delegation of 16 people from National Resistant Movement Secretariat, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Animals industry and Fisheries among others to attend training in Beijing, China on the invitation of China government.
