The interim committee team constituted to take control of the game that happened between Acholi Province and Karamoja Province last week in the ongoing FUFA Frum football tournament at Pece stadium has released accountability report on how the amount of money collected from the gate was used.
In a news conference held on Monday in Gulu town, the interim team says they were able to collect a total sum of Uganda shillings 10,986,000 million on match day.
Lamex Akena Lambert who’s the general secretary for the committee revealed that out of the 10,968,000 million, and official called Kirunda Hassan was sent from FUFA to collect the Value Added Tax (VAT) of 18% which he says was about 974,240 shillings plus again a deducting of another 10% off to the tune of 1,098,000 million shillings.
He also reported that 47 receipt books were printed at 470, 000 shillings, Gulu district local government were paid 15% out of the collection, security were paid Uganda shillings 600.000 gate, collectors were paid Uganda 485,000 shillings, ambulance hire was at Uganda shillings 300.000, chairs and public address system was paid Uganda shillings 700,000, servers [waiters/waitresses] were paid Uganda shillings 300,000, hiring for the stadium and equipments was Uganda shillings 3,759,400 – minus FUFA deduction, he added.
Mike Gawaya, the treasurer – Acholi province fans said last year, the team was running a brief case program without accountability and transparency but as per the new assigned committee, they shall ensure that accountability and transparency prevails.
However, the team said they got disappointed by the security agency who failed to execute their duties since most of the people did not pay, but rather climbed the stadium wall to watch the match.

They therefore, suggested that army officials should be in charge of security for the next games.
Acholi province beat Karamoja 2:0 in the first match played at Pece War Memorial stadium in Gulu town and will be playing Bunyoro Province on Monday 15th April in Hoima.
