Northern Youth MP, Wife In Deadly Road Accident

Earlier on, sources say he was on life support only to be quashed by relatives

Oscar Otema Omony, the Northern Uganda Youth MP is fighting for his life after he got involved in a nasty road accident, Monday afternoon.

The accident, head-on collision happened on Gulu-Kampala highway at Minakulu, Oyam district.

Aswa region Police spokesperson, Patrick Okema told TND News on Monday afternoon that the cause of that accident was head-on collision.

“The Honorable and other passengers was being driven by Okot Christopher in a Pajero car registration number UAW 260Q,” Okema said.

He identified other accident survivors in that car as Atimango Venice, one Joyce, 17 years old and a three month old baby only identified as Leticia.

According to Okema, Omuron Haruna was driving a Double Cabin car registration number UAR 436Y. He also identified other passengers aboard.

“In that Double Cabin, there was Ojok Godfrey, 30 years, Jagenda Denis, Osmani Silver, Omara Patrick and Matuvu John Rodgers,” Okema further told TND News, adding that no death was noted.

Okema said he wasn’t sure if a lady identified as Atimango Venice was legislator’s wife as was being rumored.

He further says those in a Double Cabin car were rushed to Lacor Hospital while Honorable Otema and his ‘family’ were admitted at Gulu Independent Hospital.

The MP was heading to Kampala from Gulu.

This is the second road accident involving legislators from Northern Uganda. Last week, Charles Angiro Gutumoi, the Erute North MP in Lira district got involved in an accident at Karuma, Kiryandongo district.

Until now, Angiro is nursing a fractured leg at Mulago National Hospital.
