Entertainment: Annual award winning LEA 2018 launched

After 2016 and 2017 successful award winning ceremonies held in Lira town, Lango’s annual competition, Lango Entertainment Award [LEA 2018] has been launched.

On the theme: “Realizing our identity”, LEA 2018 officials say, unlike past years, this years’ competition will cover Lango, Acholi and Teso sub-regions.

It’s worth noting that LEA was started in 2016, focusing only on, identifying, enhancing and marketing Lango artistes and radio personalities.

Moving forward, the trend is gradually changing with sight at national level.

Daniel Moi, LEA’s founder and Chief Executive Officer  noted that the competition is improving the quality of music played on different airwaves across the region and whilst the quality presentation on the radios.

“LEA started with aim [s] of bringing together musicians and radio presenters, improving on the quality of their music and music played on radios,” he said.

Mr Moi further says, before, artistes and radio presenters in Lango sub-region and entire northern Uganda were not known on the national map.

“We want to improve the quality of music, radio presentation [news anchoring], traditional dance and songs,” Moi added.

With grand gala slated for 22 December, 2018, each sub-region [Acholi, Lango and Teso] will have winners announced at their respective region.

Winners from those sub-regions listed in the categories below will be honored at the Grand Gala to be held in Lira town.

  2. Best Song of the year
  3. Afrobeat Artist of the year
  4. Best gospel Artist of the year
  5. The Best Hip-hop Artist of the year
  6. Best News Anchors [Luo, Iteso & English] of the year.
