As Amuka Bright Stars [ABS] stretches for their second home match against Kyetuma in the Fufa Big League tomorrow, Coach Anthony Ssekito is promising to put up a spirited soccer fight to ensure the home side grabs all the three points.
Amuka’s first home match ended in a 2-2 stalemate at Lira Primary school play grounds against Wakiso Giants a fortnight ago.
Speaking to TND Sports desk on Friday, team coach Ssekito confidently said the team was in good shape, adding that there was nothing to worry about the upcoming match on Sunday.
“As I speak to you, I am in the field, the boys are here and they are doing all it takes to win the match,” he told our sports reporter, on phone.
Kyetume and Amuka find themselves in the Elgon Group in their races to qualify for Star Time’s Uganda Premier League contest next season. The Sunday game, a must win for hosts, kickoff at 4:00pm.
Ssekito Anthony – who previously had a coaching role with Arua based Onduparaka, says the team is focused on every upcoming games because they know it is important to win every game to remain a serious contender for the premier league next season.
Asked how he rates the visiting team and if they could be a real threat, a confident –sounding Ssekito said: “It is not my first time as a coach to field a team against Kyetume. While with Kitara FC, I beat Kyetume in a playoff game.”
He further says he is looking up to what he did in a play off last season, hoping the boys are ready for that.
Much as coach Ssekito is promising a baptism of fire against Kyetume, he might have a troublesome night after losing his prolific striker Christopher Kiria to an injury.
Kiria, so much loved by fans when dribbling on the pitch remain sidelined after picking an injury in a 2-2 draw in the opening game against Wakiso Giants.
He is not the only one on the injury list, unfortunately. Left back Morish Blaza, attacker Emmanuel Jerugo, central defender Ivan Okello and Dwala Peter Lwaga, a right back all will not feature in the tie.
Nyakori Ivan who came on loan from Lira United remains first choice option for Kiria.
Nigerian striker Maduka Innocent Maduka also remains a doubt as the club is still struggling to renew his work permit.
Head to Head
The two sides are meeting for the third time in big league. Kyetume has won 2-0 away and lost 2-1 at home to Amuka Bright Stars in their previous two meetings.
ABS had their opening match against a promising side in the group Wakiso Giant and picked a draw, but Kiria Christopher is out of the game with an injury.
Even though Nyakori is quite promising as well, the fate of the team lies in the heart of the players and the manger. Kyetume will need to come on top of this game being their opening match.
Lira primary school playgrounds seems not to have favored the first visitors in its size which is less of the standard pitch measurement, and it may impact on the final result less.
All in all, ABS remains as favorite for this game with crowd cheering and home advantage.
